Skills for Change welcomes
Emily Kovacs as the new Chief Executive Officer
PRESS RELEASE:
TORONTO – October 19, 2026
Message from the Chair of the Board, Skills for Change
On behalf of the Board of Directors at Skills for Change, I am delighted to announce the appointment of Emily Kovacs as our new Chief Executive Officer, effective October 19.
Following a rigorous and comprehensive search process, the Board unanimously selected Emily to lead our organization forward. Emily brings exceptional financial stewardship and a proven track record of organizational growth. During her tenure as CEO of Bridges Niagara, she successfully tripled the annual operating budget. Additionally, as Manager of Homelessness Initiatives for the City of Toronto's Refugee Response, she managed a portfolio exceeding $108 million and collaborated with over 30 agencies. Most recently, she provided executive leadership for a $19 million portfolio at Christie Ossington Neighbourhood Centre.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to our interim Co-CEOs, Sampada Kukade and Nidhi Khanna, who have provided outstanding leadership and stability over the past seven months. Their dedication has ensured a seamless continuation of our programs and services during this transition.
We remain committed to ensuring a smooth leadership transition. In the coming weeks, as Emily settles into her new role, we look forward to introducing her to you and sharing our exciting vision for the future.
Thank you for your continued support and trust in Skills for Change.
Sincerely,
Christina Fung
