AI-Use Policy
At Skills for Change, trust is the foundation of everything we do. For over four decades, we’ve worked with newcomers, refugees, women, youth, seniors, and families navigating complex systems — and that means protecting their privacy, dignity, and data is non-negotiable.
As technology reshapes how organizations operate, we’ve taken a proactive step to ensure that innovation and integrity move hand in hand. Skills for Change is proud to be one of the first settlement agencies in Canada to adopt a comprehensive Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use Policy — a 46-page framework that defines how we use AI responsibly across our programs and operations.
This policy sets clear expectations for how staff and partners can use AI tools: prioritizing human oversight, privacy, bias awareness, and transparency. It reflects our belief that AI should amplify human potential, not replace judgment — and that responsible innovation begins with accountability.
Our AI Use Policy was informed by our ongoing work under Google’s AI Opportunity Fund, which supports our initiative to help individuals from under-represented communities build AI literacy and workforce readiness. By modeling responsible AI use internally, we can better teach it externally — ensuring that technology empowers rather than excludes.
