Founded in 1982, Skills for Change is a leading non-profit organization serving immigrants and refugees in Canada. Our mission is to build welcoming and equitable communities. Skills for Change is known for pioneering programs that respond to shifting immigration and

workplace trends and lead to employment. We create skills development opportunities for immigrants and refugees to access and fully participate in the workplace and wider community. Our Agency has played a major role in uplifting immigrant and equity-seeking communities for 40 years. As one of the leading holistic service providers in our sector, Skills for Change offers more than 25 programs and services, and annually serves 16,000 people who are newcomers, immigrants, and equity-seeking groups in services around employment, integration, mental health, leadership, entrepreneurship, and more.

PROGRAM NATURE AND SCOPE:

As a Marketing and Outreach Specialist at Skills for Change, you'll play a pivotal role in promoting our employment and community services programs to both clients and employers. With a focus on driving engagement, analyzing performance metrics and crafting campaigns to amplify the extensive work done by Skills for Change through digital and offline initiatives. You'll craft compelling marketing strategies, develop persuasive content, and execute outreach initiatives to expand our program reach. Collaboration with internal teams will be key to ensure our marketing efforts align with organizational goals. If you're passionate about leveraging digital channels, creating impactful content, and fostering community connections, this role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

The ideal candidate has:

  • Digital marketing expertise: The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of digital marketing tools, platforms, and strategies, including social media, email marketing, search engine optimization, and online advertising.

  • They should be familiar with tools like Google Analytics, Google Ads, Eventbrite, Constant Contact, Facebook Ads Manager, Hootsuite, Squarespace etc.

  • Technical Proficiency: They have a solid understanding of the tools, technologies, and processes relevant to their role, allowing them to work efficiently without requiring extensive training.

  • Strategic thinking: The ideal candidate should be able to think strategically about marketing and outreach initiatives, and be able to develop creative, data-driven solutions that align with the company's goals and objectives.

  • They should have a strong understanding of the target audience and be able to develop effective marketing campaigns that resonate with that audience.

  • Communication skills: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for the ideal candidate to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external partners, as well as to communicate marketing messages to the target audience.

  • Organizational skills: The ideal candidate should be highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines. They should be able to prioritize tasks effectively and have a strong attention to detail.

  • Analytical skills: The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with data and analytics and be able to use insights to optimize marketing campaigns and measure success. They should be able to analyze campaign performance and provide recommendations for improvement.

  • Relationship-building skills: Building relationships with all stakeholders is a key part of the role, so the ideal candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and be able to develop and maintain positive relationships with others.

  • Passion and creativity: The ideal candidate should be passionate about marketing and outreach and be able to bring a creative and innovative approach to their work. They should be willing to take risks and experiment with new ideas to drive results.

  • Adaptability: The ideal candidate would be adaptable in understanding the needs of a constantly evolving agency in the marketing realm and be proactive in ensuring organizational efforts to minimize repetitive tasks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Marketing (30%):

  • Contribute to the development of marketing strategies for Skills for Change’s employment and community services programs, with a focus on client and employer-facing promotions.

  • Analyze marketing data to improve future strategies and campaigns, particularly for increasing engagement with employment and community services programs.

  • Develop, execute, and monitor marketing projects across social media and various digital channels (Google Ads, Facebook Ads, Twitter Ads etc.)

  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and monitor strategic marketing initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

  • Develop and implement marketing programs such as email, social media, digital campaigns, and events through platforms like Constant Contact, Pheedloop etc.

  • Design and develop promotional material like flyers, banners etc. to ensure program teams are effectively supported.

  • Implement paid and organic marketing strategies to increase website traffic and promote visibility.

Content Development (20%):

  • Create compelling and persuasive content for marketing channels including websites, social media, newsletters, and promotional materials.

  • Develop engaging copy that effectively communicates the value of Skills for Change’s programs to the target audience.

  • Design and execute email marketing campaigns, including developing engaging newsletter content, program/event promotions etc.

  • Creating monthly/periodic reports to summarize activities, program outcomes and events in addition to exploring avenues for program promotions.

Outreach (25%):

  • Develop and execute outreach strategies to promote Skills for Change’s programs to target audiences, including community partners, donors, and stakeholders.

  • Represent the organization at events, conferences, and meetings to promote awareness and generate interest in programs.

  • Identify new and existing opportunities to enhance brand visibility for SfC programs and services across online and offline mediums like community newsletters, events, articles contributions, bulletin boards etc.

Cross Team Collaboration and Data Gathering (10%):

  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather and analyze marketing data, including campaign results, program outcomes, conversion rates, digital media engagement etc.

  • Measure and generate regular reports on the performance of all outreach and marketing metrics to engage in brand building and outreach opportunities.

  • Utilize available data to develop impactful marketing campaigns to highlight program outcomes, build brand visibility and engage in program promotions through online and offline marketing strategies.

  • Use data-driven insights to optimize marketing strategies, allocate budget/resources effectively, and enhance overall marketing performance across channels.

Full-Spectrum Marketing(15%):

  • Create integrated marketing campaigns that leverage multiple channels such as social media, email, content marketing, and advertising to reach target audiences.

  • Evaluate, select, and implement marketing automation tools and software to streamline marketing processes and improve efficiency.

  • Identify and set up automated workflows for lead nurturing, email marketing, and other marketing activities to enhance client engagement and drive conversions.

  • Develop marketing materials such as blog posts, product collateral, animations, and flyers, ensuring brand guidelines are met.

  • Write, proofread, and edit creative program content and collateral across different digital and print mediums.

  • Work with external agencies and vendors to execute marketing programs.

  • Internal support through periodic general learning sessions and operational guideline documentation to ensure compliance across evolving tech implementations.

  • Provide event marketing across on-site and virtual set up as required

  • Writing clear marketing copy to promote our programs and services.

  • Maintain and grow social media presence on various platforms (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube etc.) through implementation of trending strategies to reach the target audience.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in content strategy, digital marketing, or outreach roles.

  • Ability to bring expertise into the organization and effectively implement strategies with minimal supervision

  • Post-secondary education in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, or related area preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience in digital marketing and using web-based tools for communication such as Microsoft Office suite, Squarespace, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Google Suite, Microsoft 365, Zoom, Slack, etc mandatory.

  • 2+ years of experience and working knowledge of various marketing and analytics tools such as Google Analytics, CRM systems (e.g.,Salesforce) and email marketing platforms (Constant Contact) as well as other digital tools like Canva, Eventbrite, Hootsuite is mandatory.

  • 2+ years working experience in program marketing for employment programs for Newcomers, Immigrants and Refugees required.

  • A clear, mandatory vulnerable sector check required.

  • Proven track record of successful content creation and outreach campaigns.

  • Proficiency in developing comprehensive content strategies aligned with organizational goals.

  • Familiarity with SEO best practices, content optimization techniques, and content management systems.

  • Experience in crafting effective email marketing campaigns.

  • Ability to develop and implement outreach strategies to engage with community members

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams

  • Experience with event planning and execution is a plus

  • A clear, mandatory vulnerable sector check
