Heather McLean – Director, Programs and Services

Heather McLean (she/her) is a dynamic and accomplished senior leader with over 25 years of experience in the non-profit sector. As Director of Programs and Services at Skills for Change, she leads Newcomer Services and Employment Ontario Services, driving program transformation and portfolio expansion. Holding a BA in Sociology from Brock University and certifications in Change Management, Not-for-Profit Leadership, and Administrator Leadership, Heather is a lifelong learner driven by servant leadership. Her expertise encompasses program development, implementation, and evaluation, building high-performing teams and workplace culture.

Throughout her career, Heather has created impactful programs addressing critical issues such as food insecurity, mental health, education, seniors support, and life stabilization. In her current role, she pursues her passion for transformative social work, prioritizing marginalized communities and advocating for diverse perspectives. Heather's innovative approach, particularly in leveraging emerging technologies in settlement and employment sectors, drives her program development strategies.

Dedicated to tackling social inequities, Heather is inspired to drive impact through meaningful programs that align with the UN SDG goals, and social determinants of health. A recent RBC Women of Influence Award nominee, her work consistently creates opportunities for underserved populations by combining proven practices with innovative solutions.
