Celebrating Community at Toronto’s Newcomer Day 2025

On May 28th, 2025, our team had the pleasure of participating in Toronto’s annual Newcomer Day, a vibrant, city-led celebration of community, diversity, and opportunity. This annual event stands as a cornerstone of the city’s ongoing commitment to welcoming newcomers and supporting their settlement journeys, a sentiment and mission we align with as an organization. 

We were proud to host a booth in the Newcomer Marketplace, where we connected with hundreds of community members throughout the day. With an interactive spin-the-wheel game and a Canadian-themed trivia quiz, we brought both fun and information to the square, helping visitors learn more about the wide range of services we offer. 

The booth quickly became a hub of activity, drawing interest from individuals eager to explore support options for job searches, career skills development, and settlement guidance. Our enthusiastic team brought a wealth of knowledge, warmth, and multilingual support to the space, creating an inclusive and welcoming environment. 

One memorable highlight came when one of our team members charmed visitors in both Spanish and English, quickly becoming a favorite at the booth. As the crowd grew, another Spanish-speaking staff member jumped in to help facilitate conversations, ensuring no one was left waiting too long. By the end of the day, a full intake session had been booked for the following week. In another heartwarming moment, Turkish-speaking attendees were drawn in by friendly conversation and laughter, further expanding the reach and engagement of our team. 

We are proud that the diversity of our organization reflects the multicultural communities we serve, allowing us to better understand and meet the needs of the people we work with. As a result of a successful event, we not only had the chance to connect with the amazing newcomers of Toronto, but we now also have the opportunity to continue serving over 60 of you who attended and signed up to learn how we can help! Events like Newcomer Day are vital to our mission. They provide in-person touchpoints that build trust, break down barriers, and help newcomers feel seen, supported, and included.
