Are you a young person (16-29) in the GTA who wants to learn about sustainability and climate action while developing the skills needed to become an agent of sustainable change in your community? Join the Youth Climate Action Initiative by Skills for Change!

  • Free environmental education, tours, events, and workshops in the community;
  • Free weekly sustainability and leadership-focused learning sessions;

  • Hybrid format (virtual with optional in-person activities)
  • 10-week duration; 2-4 hours per week commitment
  • Sustainability Leader Certificate following the completion of the program
  • Volunteer experience (and volunteer hours upon request)
  • Focus on Jane and Finch, Weston, Thorncliffe Park, Flemingdon Park, and Black Creek areas

  • Spring Cohort (April 11 – June 13, 2023; Tuesdays 6:30-8:30pm)
  • Summer Cohort (June 28 – August 30, 2023; Wednesdays 6:30-8:30pm)
  • Autumn Cohort (September 14 – November 16, 2023; Thursdays 6:30-8:30pm)
  • Youth ages 16-29
  • Resides in or around the Greater Toronto Area
  • Has an interest in sustainability and community climate action

Looking for more leadership experience? Join the YCAI Steering Committee and take on a Community Project Leader role!

This role lets you lead your team in planning a Community Climate Action Project by suggesting project ideas, defining problems, and connecting with community partners.

You would need to attend the Community Project Leader Orientation for your selected cohort:

    • Spring Cohort – Sat. April 1, 10am-2pm
    • Summer Cohort – Sat. June 24, 10am-2pm
    • Autumn Cohort – Sat. Sept. 9, 10am-2pm
