Are you interested in becoming a Skilled Trades Professional Mentor?
The Mentoring for Change program continues to connect established professions with recent immigrants and underserved communities. We are pleased to introduce Mentoring for Skilled Trades (MST) to our diverse deliveries.
Skilled Trades Overview:
The Pre-Apprenticeship and Skilled Trades programs seek to address barriers faced by participants trying to enter an apprenticeship but encountering issues around a lack of exposure and experience. These programs introduce participants to a diverse variety of skilled trades occupations, through academic upgrading, employment preparation coaching, networking opportunities, and the equivalent of level 1 apprenticeship training.
Mentor Criteria:
The MST program invites participants who have 2 years of experience working in Canada in Skilled Trades and want to volunteer their time as a mentor. We host orientation sessions for mentors to get them started with Skills for Change staff. We are currently offering 1-1 individual mentoring or group mentoring sessions to our participants in pre-apprenticeship training programs. Meetings can occur at a mutually convenient time and location, whether offline or virtually.
We also provide platforms for mentors to deliver presentations, and conduct brief mentoring/coaching and knowledge-sharing opportunities through networking events. We encourage mentors to get involved and be part of a positive professional influencing community.
Mentoring matters to Skilled Trades, you can make a difference!
