Tell us your story

Hi, I’m Ashley, a born and raised Torontonian. I currently work for Skills for Change at their Employment Ontario West office as the Client Engagement Support Worker. I recently graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University where I focussed on Human Relationships by studying Philosophy, Psychology and Sociology. Ever since I was a child, interpersonal relationships have fascinated me – why we choose to include or exclude people from our lives, how we balance the needs of others versus our own personal needs, why we love the people we do – these have all been questions that have interested me. This has led me to take many opportunities to immerse myself in different cultures to learn more about diverse human interactions. I’m super into Eastern culture; more specifically Japanese culture which is where my favourite quote comes from.

Your Favourite quote

My favourite quote is from my all-time favourite anime, Fairy Tail. It is “When you face a tough time, you have three choices. You can give up, give in, or give it your all.” I love this quote because it really highlights that you are the owner of the decisions that you make, and your outlook on life can really change your point of view when going through tough times.

What do you enjoy most about working at Skills for Change?

What I really enjoy about working at Skills for Change, is the opportunity to meet people from all different cultures.  I also really appreciate the opportunity that we are given to really make changes – both big and small – in our client’s lives.
