Course Description

🔐 Learn to Defend, Detect, and Understand the Digital Battlefield

In a world where every business runs on connected systems, cybersecurity has become the backbone of trust and innovation.
Cybersecurity Essentials Using Windows and Linux is an 8-week, hands-on program designed to help you understand how hackers think, how analysts defend, and how technology teams work together to secure digital infrastructure.

Whether you’re changing careers, upgrading your IT skills, or exploring cybersecurity for the first time, this course gives you real tools, real labs, and real confidence.

💡 What You’ll Learn

  • The Foundations: Understand the CIA Triad—Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability—and why it governs every cybersecurity decision.

  • Networking Basics: Discover how computers communicate, how attacks move through a network, and how firewalls, IPs, and ports keep systems secure.

  • Red Team Skills: Explore ethical hacking and vulnerability scanning using tools like Nmap and Metasploit.

  • Blue Team Defense: Learn to detect and respond to attacks using Windows Event Viewer, Wireshark, and SIEM dashboards (OpenVAS, Wazuh.)

  • GRC and Strategy: Build a risk matrix, write policies, and understand compliance frameworks like NIST CSF and ISO 27001.

  • AI and the Future of Cyber: Examine how artificial intelligence is transforming both sides of the cybersecurity battlefield.

🧰 Hands-On Labs and Tools

You’ll learn by doing in a guided, instructor-led environment.
All labs use pre-configured virtual machines and cloud-based practice environments.

Core Tools:
Cisco Packet Tracer • Windows 11 • Parrot Linux • Wireshark • Nmap • OpenVAS • ChatGPT • GitHub Pages • TryHackMe

🧠 Capstone Project

In your final project, you’ll come up with a business concept (including what problem they solve, and the solution they provide) and then design and secure their Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) network. You will publish your results as a professional GitHub Portfolio—a tangible showcase of your skills and business understanding for employers.
