Founded in 1982, Skills for Change is a leading non-profit organization serving immigrants and refugees in Canada. Our mission is to build welcoming and equitable communities. Skills for Change is known for pioneering programs that respond to shifting immigration and workplace trends and lead to employment. We create skills development opportunities for immigrants and refugees to access and fully participate in the workplace and wider community. Our Agency has played a major role in uplifting immigrant and equity-seeking communities for 40 years. As one of the leading holistic service providers in our sector, Skills for Change offers more than 25 programs and services, and annually serves 16,000 people who are newcomers, immigrants, and equity seeking groups in services around employment, integration, mental health, leadership, entrepreneurship, and more.

PROGRAM NATURE AND SCOPE:
The need to support more diverse apprentices is apparent and SfC enters as the ideal organization to lead a program focused on advancing the diversity in skilled trades apprenticeships. Building on over 15 years of experience developing and implementing programming for women in the trades and pre-apprenticeship sectors, and through partnership development in Nova Scotia, BC, Ontario, Quebec, and Manitoba, SfC is delivering a program for immigrant and racialized women with a focus on the following Red Seal trades, plumbing, welding, carpentry, horticulture with specialized leadership training, networking, mentorship and mental health supports to help build a holistic pathway to employment in the trades. As such, we are looking for someone to support the development and execution of workshops and in-person networking events across 3 provinces for women in Skilled Trades pathways, as well as being responsible for executing multiple small to medium events that support our sustainability programming. Events include media launches, symposiums, recruitment and/or community events and fundraising initiatives. This position reports to our Manager of Events and Communications, and works collaboratively with internal departments, event participants, committees, vendors and event donors to organize events that increase Skills for Change’s profile.
The successful candidate will bring a high level of detail-orientated writing to content development, the ability to learn Skills for Change's voice, and a commitment to delivering excellent work with competing deadlines. They will be responsible for the logistical planning and the first ever national implementation of conferences for the organization. The candidate will work collaboratively with internal partners to ensure seamless coordination and execution, and lease with national partners to deliver both large- and small-scale conferences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist in designing national-wide events that generate awareness for the organization.
• Oversee the end-to-end logistics of national conferences and events, ensuring smooth executions and timely delivery.
• Coordinate with internal teams to develop new event concepts and engaging content, adhering to the Skills for Change's voice and brand guidelines.
• Conduct research on new event concepts, strategic partnerships, and donors.
• Support the development and implementation of digital strategies for website/Content Management Systems (CMS) and local search platforms.
• Assist in the development of communications to promote events, including working with the Marketing team on social media engagement and media advisories.
• Track analysis of marketing metrics for events.
• Collaborate cross-functionally on content development, marketing tactics, online and in-person event experiences, and sponsorship plans for all events.
• Ensure a superior event experience for attendees, sponsors, donors, and key stakeholders.
• Support/create strategic relationships with external vendors and suppliers across Canada and stakeholders in the Trades sector.
• Be a liaison for event partners including but not limited to performers, vendors, volunteers, artists, etc.
• Aid in recruitment, training, and management of event volunteers.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ATTRIBUTES:
• 3+ years of event coordination and event marketing experience, preferably in a non-profit and nationally driven organization is required.
• Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Event Management or related field is mandatory.
• Experience using social media tools and platforms.
• Passion about the mission and vision of the organization.
• Consistently sound judgement and an ability to work successfully under pressure.
• Experience planning and executing in-person, virtual and hybrid event, on a large scale.
• Ability to liase with teams across Canada
• Experience executing national event marketing campaigns via owned and social media channels.
• Proven ability to analyze and organize data to drive business initiatives nationally.
• Strong written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills; ability to communicate with confidence.
• Experience contributing to content development.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment that is fluid and constantly changing.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• A clear vulnerable sector check is required.
