The Horticulture Technician Pre-Apprenticeship Training Program for Women prepares women who have a keen interest in the skilled trades for employment in the landscape sector. Typical jobs in this industry include landscape construction, grounds and golf course maintenance, parks operations and gardens care. The program provides both academic and practical training to assist with obtaining employment. 

  • Academic Upgrading
  • Level 1 Apprenticeship training for the trade of Horticultural Technician in Ontario
  • Health and Safety training including WHMIS, worker safety and First Aid
  • Introduction to Arborist Trade
  • Employment preparation training
  • Paid work placement in the landscape industry
  • Individual counselling and support services
  • Applicants who identify as women who are 18 years of age or older, live in Toronto or GTA and are eligible to work in Ontario
  • Secondary School (Ontario Grade 12) diploma, or equivalent, at or above the general level

*Selection of successful applicants will be based on a measurable commitment to the training program and a goal of registration as a Horticultural Technician apprentice, or registration in a related trade (such as an Arborist).

Program Dates:

This program is a 37-week intensive full-time program that includes 8 weeks of paid placement

Start Date: July 8, 2019

End Date: March 20, 2020

(Paid Placement is September 9 to November 1, 2019)
