We offer a range of accelerated programs including mentoring, employment, settlement, language training together with specialized programs for skilled trades, women, and youth. We have 5 locations across the GTA and serve 16,000 clients annually. PROGRAM NATURE AND SCOPE:
The Labour Market Research Assistant will report to the Supervisor, Labour Market Analysis and Employer Engagement and will support all sector information to develop labour market information for client services and Employment Ontario Program delivery.
- Support with remote Employment Ontario labour market and sector job trends, employee needs and data gathering activities using e-surveys, polls, telephone interviews and virtual focus groups.
- Engage in data compilation activities including but not limited to: tabulating and entering data, preparing data tables, cleansing datasets and setting up spreadsheets;
- Engage in numeric and textual data analysis activities including (but not limited to) cross tabulations, descriptive data mining, frequency tables, measures of central tendency and dispersion, cluster analysis, time series analysis, content analysis, thematic coding, framework analysis, time-ordered matrices;
- Support the Labour Market Information Analyst’s research through literature review along with connecting with community stakeholders online and by telephone;
- Aid in the development and implementation of impactful research projects (e.g. needs assessments of core client groups, workforce integration strategy papers, Focus area best practices white papers, shared solutions podcasts/videos, shared challenges statement);
- Provide support in the writing of research notes, concept notes, program outcomes evaluation framework, work plans, and ensuring compliance with all grant making criteria to inform programming and grant application related to improving clients’ employability and employment outcomes.
- Present data, when requested, in a manner that will be understood by co-workers and stakeholders;
- Support SfC project activities as required;
- Perform other administrative duties as required.
- Scanning and updating grants pipeline for funding opportunities as required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong verbal & written communication skills in English language (French and another language is an asset);
- Strong customer service skills;
- Demonstrated time management & organizational skills
- Ability to work independently to achieve day-to-day results in a diverse and dynamic team environment;
- Evidence of research, analytical and report writing skills, preferably related to labour market information.
- Research experience in labour market or workforce development planning will be an asset.
- Knowledge and experience performing analysis of multiple data sets, data collection, statistical analysis, quantitative and qualitative research, and dissemination of results
- Knowledge of local, provincial, and federal labour market sources (i.e. Statistics Canada, Labour Force Survey, etc.) is a definite asset
- Strong grasp of working in a Microsoft and Google’s environment (eg. Zoom, Slack, Gmail, Google docs, Excel, SPSS, Salesforce etc.)
- Experience with racialized, newcomer, women issues with an intersectional, anti-oppression framework etc.
- College diploma or university degree (and/or currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution) with a focus on statistics, data science, economics or planning an asset. A graduate degree is an asset.
- And/or relevant direct experience working in research, project management, project design, grant-writing, monitoring and evaluation, fundraising
