Heart Health and Women’s Health Workshop
March 26 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
A free workshop on health:
This two hour workshop is offered in partnership with the University of Toronto Medical School and will explore heart health (first hour) and women’s health (second hour).
In the first hour, you will learn about ways YOU can take control of YOUR heart health. Heart disease is the second leading cause of death in Canada. Diabetes and other risk factors are becoming increasingly common at a younger age, even as early as childhood. Diet, exercise, and stress all play an important role in your heart health. We will cover topics such as diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol, and warning signs and risk factors for heart disease.
In the second hour, we will focus on women’s health. Have you ever wondered how many ways there are to prevent pregnancy? Do you have questions about the best times to get pregnant? Are you concerned about cancers that only affect females? In this workshop, we will talk about female reproductive and sexual health, focusing on pregnancy, female health, contraception, and issues that are unique to women.
Participants are encouraged to bring any questions that they may have to the talk. We hope to see you there!
Presenters: Harris Sheikh (2nd year UofT medical student) & Cara Elliot (2nd year UofT medical student)
